DELAWARE COUNTY PA PASS PARENT ADVOCATE LEGISLATIVE FORUM
Parents are asked to attend a special opportunity to hear from Pennsylvania state legislators to hear their positions on public education, on Thursday, October 13, 2011 from 7:00 - 10:00 p.m. at the Upper Darby Performing Arts Center at 601 N. Lansdowne Avenue in Drexel Hill. Over $800 million in funding for public education has been cut from the state budget. Now is the time to share your concerns about how these cuts have impacted or will impact your child's education. Parents are asked to show their support for helping our legislators to understand that education is a top priority, and that no more cuts can take place!
UPDATE - PENNSYLVANIA PUBLIC SCHOOL EMPLOYEES RETIREMENT SYSTEM
Facts about the PSERS financial crisis and its potential impact on the Interboro School District:
- The current district contribution rate of 4.78% will increase to 5.64 % in 2010-2011
- It is projected that contribution rates will continue to increase, to 10.59% in 2011-2012, to 29.46% in 2012-2013, and to 32.32% in 2013-2014
- It is also projected that the employer contribution rates will remain over 30% until at least the year 2020, over 25% until the year 2027, and over 20% until the year 2033
- The sum of the cumulative rate increases between now and 2013-2014 will cost the Interboro School District approximately $3,976,000 over the next four years
